Hotel Review. Le Méridien Nouméa Resort & Spa

This hotel review is for Le Méridien Nouméa Resort & Spa is a 4 *, located in front of a white sand beach. Perfect either for families, solo or business travellers. Premium location at the south of the popular Anse Vata beach, away from the car noises. Sourrounded by a beautiful tropical garden and sea views.

Best Noumea Hotel visited so far!

Clean, elegant, well thought design and decoration. Awesome facilities with big exuberant tropical garden. Big swimming pool between beach and breakfast room. 100% recommended!

We were upgraded to a Superior King Room Ocean View with Balcony. We found everything we needed in the room; sleepers, iron board, mini bar, bathrobe, A/C, ceiling fan with remote control, a baby crib, alarm clock charger with USB ports and plenty of space and comfort.

There was a bottle of water per person per day and a free entrance for 2 pax. to the Tjibaou Cultural Center. In addition, the hotel offers a complimentary coffee per person per day at the hotel's bar Latitude 22!

Our balcony looked right to the ocean and part of the garden on the left hand side. Suites have a wider ocean view. The sunrise was amazing.

The Food

We had dinner at Le Faré, the beatiful beachfront restaurant made of several collated "Cases" (typical Melanesian houses). We were told at the reception that there was a BBQ buffet every night, but we were disappointed getting into the restaurant; no buffet that night.

The staff was very attentive and friendly. The meals we ordered were fine, although one of the main courses (vegetables and tofu with curry sauce) was not the best choice as one could feel the vinegar taste of canned vegetables. If you ever happen to order the same, make sure to ask if they have change the receipe with fresh vegetables. I reported it to the waitress. Hopefully it will be much better next time!
There is a Japanese restaurant in the lobby, Le Shogun, but it was closed. We checked-in on a Wednesday evening.

Breakfast: Taken at Le Sextant restaurant in front of the swimming pool and surrounded by the tropical garden. Le Meridien style continental breakfast with all the good fresh choices you can think of; japanese food, fresh made eggs or any other thing you wish for, smoothies, dried fruits,...

CONS: Not enough fresh fruit variety.

Lunch: A a carte in any of the restaurants of the hotel. We did not ate at the property this time.

Things to do

If you want to have a relaxed Far Niente stay, the resort provides the look and feel to do it. Here are our top 5 things to do at the hotel, or next to it, during a stay at Le Méridien Nouméa Resort and Spa:
1. Enjoy the free aquagym classes held at the outside swimming pool. There are also free Pilates classes.
2. Access the #2 Spa of New Caledonia at Lé Méridien Nouméa, the Deep Nature Spa. Standard price starts at 4.200 xpf (35.23 €) with access to spa swimming pool, sauna, hammam, fitness room, etc.
3. As a hotel guest, you can use all the water sports equipment available free of charge; kayak, canoe, Stand Up Paddle, etc. There is a Jet Ski that costs between 12.000/15.000 xpf per hour.
4. Walk or Run (if you're a runner) on the Anse Vata Bay. You can either do it on the sand or on the promenade. You'll be able to enjoy an outdoor fitness station in front of the beach.

5. Take a drink or eat at The Roof restaurant built on stilts, which is at 10 min walk from the hotel. The views over the water are amazing.

Very tidy and clean with an extremely well kept garden with lots of different palm tree types and flowers. We adore it!

Le Méridien Nouméa Resort & Spa is part of Marriott hotel chain, thus we were confident on the quality standards. The hotel facilities offer a mixture of contemporary elegance and subtle decoration with motifs of Melanesian culture.

We had a quick and efficient check-in with a refreshment, who doesn't like those little attentions? The room keys were also decorated with pictures (not just plain white). We also got cards for the pool towels.

The staff is attentive and helpful. Always ready to guide or advise. The lady at the breakfast reception offered us a tasty smoothie while she added the Marriott Bonvoy points into our membership account. Loyalty program members have a 10% discount on the breakfast rate and we didn't know that!

Departure from the hotel is at 12 AM, unlike the other hotels we visited in Nouméa, where we had to leave the room at 11:00. This extra hour allowed us to enjoy the beach and the pool after breakfast without any rush.

The hotel has a great general atmosphere where you feel good and satisfied with the service. The little touches in the room and by the staff increase the comfort and tranquility that one seeks in a hotel.
